Gamekeeping for Life

gwtThe Gamekeepers' Welfare Trust (GWT) will mark its 25th birthday this year by running a series of 'Gamekeeping for Life' conferences across the UK.

The conferences aim to celebrate best practice in a variety of circumstances, focussing on the importance of open and candid relationships between keepers and their employers, sustainable shoot management, and the wide range of conditions which provide the ingredients for successful relationships on sporting estates.

Founded to support gamekeepers, stalkers and ghillies along with their dependents in disability, illness, poverty and old age, the GWT also offers support to young people who wish to make gamekeeping their career. In recent years, additional help has been provided via a helpline and visiting service to address the needs of working keepers and tackle loneliness and isolation.

The first conference will be held at the home of GWT chairman the Earl of Aylesford, Packington Hall, Warwickshire, on March 21, 2017. Lord James Percy will be the keynote speaker.
